Entrepreneurship and innovation, hand in hand
Our pioneering mindset challenges the status quo and guides our quest for innovation in everything we do. This culture has allowed us to evolve in many different ways throughout our history.
In 2021, we created an initiative called Imagine to reinforce and provide a structure for this mindset. Imagine encourages innovation in search of more streamlined and efficient processes at Mattos Filho, open to contributions from all of the firm’s professionals.
“In large groups and organizations, it is not unusual to see specific individuals make efforts to innovate. However, these efforts are often not communicated on a wide scale or, at best, are restricted to specific areas or sectors. At Mattos Filho, we don’t want that to happen. Imagine is a way for us to structure our entrepreneurial drive and strengthen connections between people, helping our projects to gain strength and allowing us to think about the future of our firm collectively,” explained our partner Luciana Lorenzo
One of the special features of Imagine regards its push for collaborative transformation. No single area at the firm holds a monopoly over innovation. We exchange ideas on numerous projects all the time, and we share and receive insights for collective construction. To continue progressing and identifying future leaders, we need to ensure that we can continue to elevate our level of excellence, no matter what lies ahead of us. The next generation should surpass our own, and it is necessary to foster development to make this happen. Yet, in saying this, how can we make sure our clients perceive these benefits?
Our partner Marina Anselmo outlined the importance of understanding the difference between technology and innovation, emphasizing that innovation is much more comprehensive. “To innovate is to never settle. It is about looking for new processes, being proactive, anticipating needs, asking new questions, and finding new answers. Innovation may seem like an intangible concept, but we manage to make it visible through our work. The clients notice our innovative mindset and value that we position ourselves not as a service provider, but as a strategic partner. More than merely offering services, we offer vision and solutions”, she said.
In 2021, Imagine sparked four initiatives:
ImagineLab
A competition for professionals from all areas of the firm to come up with ideas for projects to transform how Mattos Filho’s operates, whether for day-to-day internal operations or for improving our client service.
Imagine Convida
A space for debate and reflections on innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship, featuring the insights and inspiring experiences of expert guests. In 2021, we welcomed Lourenço Bustani – CEO of Mandalah consulting, considered one of Latin America’s most innovative companies – for a conversation about creativity and self-awareness.
ImagineID
An initiative that brings the firm’s professionals together, promoting connections and debates based on common interests, such as sports, gastronomy, music, and wine. Besides online exchanges, each group has the freedom to catch up for coffees and informal chats. The groups can also share their ideas with Imagine and promote small events in the office.
Imagine Content Hub
A page exclusively for the firm’s professionals that contains information about innovation at Mattos Filho. Updated weekly, it is curated by Oxygen – a consultancy specialized in providing structured and in-depth customized content about innovation, technology, and education – and presents relevant and inspiring news, articles, videos, and podcasts on the subject. It also features interviews with professionals about how they innovate their day-to-day lives and a selection of legal techs that are revolutionizing the legal industry both in Brazil and worldwide.
Innovating from the inside out
The work we have done to foster innovation in 2021 will extend into 2022, with a new initiative directed at our strategic audience. This project will seek to set Mattos Filho apart within the legal segment, stimulating new partnerships, the business opportunities, as well as further synergy between professionals, clients and the startup and legal tech ecosystem.
